Our Furnace Installation Services

When installing a new or replacement furnace in your home, the quality of the product is just as important as the workmanship. It’s extremely important that the system is sized properly — a furnace that’s too small will have to work overtime to get your house to the proper temperature, and a furnace that’s too big will cycle on and off far too frequently, greatly reducing its efficiency.

At Michael Bonsby HVAC, Plumbing & Electrical, our expert furnace installation specialists in Montgomery County, Maryland, will be able to take measurements before installing your new furnace, ensuring it can heat your home as efficiently and effectively as possible.

We install new furnaces from a range of top-name brands and are American Standard and Mitsubishi authorized dealers.

Benefits of an Energy-Efficient Furnace System

When weighing your home heating choices, it’s worth considering how the energy efficiency of your new system will impact your upfront investment and home heating experience throughout your furnace’s entire life. Here are a few great reasons to aim for energy efficiency in your furnace selection:

  • Cost savings: Buying a low-cost furnace quickly becomes impractical if its lack of energy efficiency drives up your utility bills month after month. The long-term economic impact of an energy-efficient furnace could be thousands of dollars in savings.
  • Rebates: Buying a high-efficiency furnace, particularly one that’s also ENERGY STAR® certified, may make you eligible for rebates and tax credits that can offset some of the purchase cost.
  • Eco-friendly: An energy-efficient furnace reduces fuel intake and greenhouse gas emissions, giving you a warmer home without warming or harming the planet.
  • Air quality: The advanced filtration built into an energy-efficient furnace keeps unhealthy contaminants from compromising your indoor air quality. This cleaner air, in turn, benefits your comfort and respiratory health.
  • Quiet and comfort: Since it doesn’t have to work as hard to heat your home, a high-efficiency furnace is much less noisy than its traditional counterpart. It also delivers even, consistent heat to keep you comfortable all season.
  • Compatibility: The perfect partner for a smart thermostat and broader smart home system, an energy-efficient furnace fits seamlessly into the other conveniences of modern home life

Furnace Installation FAQs

Before you leave to go on vacation, you definitely want to lower your thermostat – after all, why should you pay to warm an empty house? However, it’s not a good idea to turn the furnace off completely. If you have pets you’re leaving in the house, keep the temperature set around 65°F – you don’t want your furry friends to be freezing while you’re gone! If you don’t have pets or if they’re coming with you, set your thermostat no lower than 55°F. This temperature will ensure maximum energy savings while still being warm enough that your pipes won’t freeze.

Many people worry that the pilot will create heat and waste gas over the summer. And while this is true to an extent, it’s not as bad as you might think. Pilots use a very small amount of gas, and many times, they can’t be relit during the fall – spiders sometimes find their way into unlit pilot assemblies, clogging up the burners with webs and dead bugs. Also, the heat produced by the pilot keeps humidity and moisture out of the furnace in the summer that can cause it to rust.

Yes! Analog thermostats typically operate within a 3- to 4-degree range, while newer programmable thermostats are extremely accurate. These can help you stay comfortable and save more energy.
